Cityscape in Watercolor

All levels of students are encouraged to participate!
In this one-day workshop students will focus on cityscape scenes. Ryan will discuss how to simplify complex scenes and how to see color first and foremost as a value. He’ll also show you techniques for adding texture via masking, spattering, and atomizing. The workshop will be a great learning experience with demonstrations, one-on-one consultations, and constructive critiques. All levels of students are encouraged to participate. Students are welcome to bring their own photographs or use the instructor’s photographic resources.
Supplies to bring:
Watercolor paints - One each of the primary colors. Choose between my favorites: Cadmium Red, Rose Madder Hue, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Aureolin, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, and Burnt Sienna. I prefer Turner paints.
Watercolor brushes - Squirrel mop brush- #2 or #4 and I recommend the Mimik Round #4 or #6 for finer details.
One bottle of Pebeo masking fluid. (Not the permanent version)
One 22x30 sheet of Arches Watercolor Paper, 140lb or 300lb, Cold press or rough surface. We will be working on a half sheet painting (15x22").
Drawing supplies: a 3b or 4b pencil and a kneaded eraser.
